ORGANIZE & CENTRALIZE

The earliest association of Rastafari - called

Howellites - still exists in small pockets but their numbers are shrinking and they are not readily scrutinized by new initiates as an option for membership. Also, the Judah Coptic house, which operated in the mid to late 1970s was an organizational locale of significance but ceased to exist in any significant way since this house was severely curtailed after investigations into its activities by international law enforcement officers. More recently a new mansion located in the Blue Mountains has emerged under the strong leadership of Priest Dermot Fagan. This mansion known as the Haile Selassie School of Vision is an explicitly environmental order of Rastafari priests; acknowledging itself as a daughter of the Nyahbinghi, it maintains a strict sabbatical practice. The three major Mansions of Rastafari also took root in the Wider Caribbean with the Nyahbinghi reigning supreme in the Windward and Leeward Islands and the Twelve Tribes of Israel predominant in Trinidad and Guyana, though the Bobo Shanti also took strong root in Trinidad and Tobago.

Visual evidence of the Bobo Shanti influence may be associated with popular artistes such as Sizzla, Anthony B and Capleton. However, Bunny Wailer, who along with Bob Marley and Peter Tosh formed the original Wailers, has supported the 21st Century centralization effort known as the Ethio-Africa Diaspora Union Millennium Council (the Millennium Council), mobilizing the Rastafari community through a series of events dubbed "Trumpet Calls".

Another important 21st Century initiative is the Rastafari Youth Initiative Council.

Rastafari has been recognized as being one of the major agents of rehabilitation for many dispossessed African males. In prisons all across the Caribbean and in the African Diaspora, Rastafari provides hope and direction for inmates and a Rastafari formation has taken place within the St. Catherine Adult Correctional Centre (Spanish Town Prison), in Jamaica. The leader's testimony is that he had a vision in which His Imperial Majesty, Haile Selassie I, instructed him to raise up the Church among fellow inmates who had often reflected on the stabilizing roles of the women in their lives. The True Fifth Church of Haile Selassie I, King Queendom Come therefore honours women. They observe the Sabbath and hold structured reasonings and academic classes on week days. The account of a Nyahbinghi priest who had associated with this group during a period of incarceration is that it has attracted a substantial youth following, many of whom have begun growing dreadlocks in prison.

In keeping with the traditional formation of Rastafari 'camps', the Movement's organizational efforts have spawned variations of the original
