Historic RMO Launch Event - A Major Success

On Sunday, August 27, 2023, more than 200 persons turned up to witness
the historic launch of a newly formed umbrella group of the Rastafari
movement, appropriately called the Rastafari Mansions and Organizations
or the RMO. The mission of the RMO (Rastafari Mansions and
Organizations) is to unite legitimate the Rastafari mansions and
organizations in Jamaica for the purpose of harnessing the collective
assets and resources of the Rastafari community and to fulfill the Rastafari
Creed, which is that: the hungry being fed, the naked clothed, the sick nourished, the aged protected, and the infants cared for.

It is also to facilitate international Black repatriation (for those who want to
return to Africa) and reparations via negotiations. Its overall vision is to
have the Jamaican Rastafari Community speak with one voice to
government entities, both local and abroad in regard to reparative issues
both internal and external, as well as to protect and preserve the sacred
legacy of Ras Tafari worldwide. The organization also intends to enforce
Rastafari IP (Intellectual Property) Rights.

The event which was dubbed “Rastafari Unity Day” kicked off at about 2pm
on the Sunday afternoon of August 27, 2023, with strong cultural musical
vibrations emanating from the speakers, courtesy of BreadlockX from I
Yaad Radio and DJ Marshmello from Black Talons Sound. The atmosphere
then remained charged from 3pm to 7pm, with strong compelling
presentations from various speakers who explained the mission, vision
and future development plans of the RMO. The Speeches were
interspersed with drumming and chanting by the EABIC, (Ethiopia Africa
Black International Congress), the School of Vision, the Nyahbinghi Order
and the International Peacemakers Association. The live streaming and
Zoom link for the event was provided by BreadlockX. During the course of
the event, the entire gathering was treated to a sumptuous meal courtesy
of Sister Icelia Catering.

The event which took place at the headquarters of the International
Peacemakers Association, in Palmer’s Cross, Clarendon, culminated with a
ratification ceremony for the constitution which governs the operation of the
centralized umbrella organization. Representatives of thirteen mansions
and organizations of the Rastafari community affixed their signatures and
declared their commitment as follows:

‘‘We the undersigned, duly authorized by our respective mansions and
organizations, do hereby authorize and adopt the Constitution of the RMO,
and commit ourselves to act in accordance with the Constitution as the
founding RMO Representatives.”

It is important to emphasize that the RMO is not affiliated to any
government Ministry or Agency at all and that all expenses for the event
were covered by the 14 Constituent mansions and organizations which are
members of the umbrella group.
